Blog #5:Intergrating Relevant Acadimc Sources

  •  The two books that I' am making my claims on are two books based on simularities as the text that I have read ( A Long Way Gone). The books that I have choosen for my research paper are Moller, David. Dancing with Broken Bones. Oxford: University Press, 2004, and Ojiaku, Chief Unche. Surviving the Iron Curtain: A Microscopic View of What Life Was Like Inside a War-Torn Region.  03-2007.  I wanted to compare the imagination, struggles, humor and journey of survival for my research paper. Both books have simularities about African culture; starvation and war. Surviving the Iron Curtain is a book about families and loyalty; like A Long Way Gone, Surviving the Iron Curtain has fatal horror and memories of the past.                                                                                                     The questions that I will be exploring in my research paper based on my claims are; how did Africa survive the journey of war. How did imaination come in play with the journey and what was the outcome of the war.                                                                                                     For my article I' am using articles about Africa Diaspora in Brizil. The article that I will be using includes African culture, struggles, journey of exscape and also the slave trades that took place during that time. Orginized from the Atlantic trade. Mostly for hard labor. The information in the article will help me explain Diaspora for my research paper.

The Transformation of Beah's journey

Beah seperates from his brother. When they seperate Beah "becomes frustrated with living in fear". On page 46 Beah states "I felt if I was always waiting for death. On his journey it seems as though his spirit was getting weak. He started to lose faith in my opion. Beah States that "he walked for five days, without seeing humans, and when he went to the river he came in contact with humans, but it didn't matter because they didn't trust him anyway. He felt alone, and lost. On page 45 he gets reminded of his family. " I pressed my fingers on my eyeslids to hold back my tears and wished that I could have my family together again, which shows that he still had hope. On page 45, rather than page 47, he was alone, and didn't run in contact with himans. His spirts seemed as though they were broken.

D Kelley Word Mash

Chris is a wonderful teacher. Whenever he gets the time he travels. This year he decided to live it up like a real G, and go to the biggest event ever!!, also known as the Oktoberfest. Chris wants to eat lots of food. He starts out eating Oatmeal Casserole. Next he passes the cheesecake Factory, and couldn't resist, so he buys Muddy Musty Granola Cheese Cake. Latter he runs into a kid that challenges him to a bobbing for apple contest. he gets his a** kicked so he leaves angry. Getting his butt whipped makes him hungry again, so he grabs a Bitter Peach Artichoke Buttery Yolk Dip. He notices some people using Coke and he doesn't like it, so he points his nose towards the sky and walks away. As he walks away a college student  approaches him, and offers him Steamed Coffee with Cream and he excepts. Chris starts to dance and the college kids begin to laugh. They walk up to him, and tells him that that they put Coke in his Steamed Coffee with Cream. Chris stops and starts to hurl, he vomits all over the place and snot starts running down his nose. Every-one around shouts pew!!! you stink!!!! dude. Out comes the the casserole, Cranberry, Yolk, Oatmeal, Granola, Artichoke Peach and Coke. His Crap is all over the place. Chris screams "never again".

Hunger

" We could not find something substantial to eat. We got hungrier day after day, to the point that our stomachs started hurting and our vision got blurred at times. "We had no choice but to sneak back in Mattru Jong.                                          As a child I really didn't think before I did things. In my opinion most adults wouldn't go back to a town that had been destroyed by rebels, just for food that tastes better and money. Thinking as a child I tend to think about comfort zones. Yes they needed money, but to endanger yourself and your brothers is kind of crazy. If I couldn't find my parents I would want to feel that comforting spirit from my them. When they went back and found the money, they couldn't buy food anyway, because the sellers needed the food for themselves. The hunger inside was beyond food in my opion. Maybe they where trying to find hope of finding their parents.                                                                                                                                                                                             In life you continue to fall upon childish actions. Sometimes I don't think about the outcome of situations. Some people including myself tend to think about pleasing ourselves (that hunger within). Many of us do certain things because it seems like a great idea at the time, but in reality as we get wiser, we Begin to take cautious steps. Now that I' am older I question myself, and think about the outcome. Ishmael is a young boy forced to deal with an adult situation, with saying that I'm from America, I have grown accustom to the life that I have, so I can't say that I would do anything differently. This is the first time that Ishmael has been through something so extreme, so of course he may not think about his safefy first.                                                            In America it would be difficult to carry an AK47 and get away with it. Who am I to say that what he did was crazy, I couldn't imagine being in that situation. His culture is different from mine, but I do know that life is all about hard decisions. What they did in my opinion, was simply suicide. Situations are always trying, but for me that hunger lies inside of me. Wanting things to be the same, and trying to make things better by avoiding things that can hurt me.
